fax: 202-727-5660 hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm | Staff researched the location and extent of military facilities from web resources and the ADC Map Book. Using the 2003 orthophoto, snapbase, planimetrics, and exisiting military layers, staff digitized the boundaries of the military facilities. They do not follow the snapbase. Instead, they follow the fence line, water line, and other ground identifiable features. Pictometry was used in certain locations to determine ground features for capture as part of the boundary.
Staff then joined the existing military facility point layer with the polygon layer to transfer attribute information. Then, staff verified the attributes and checked the data against existing sources. |
in OCTO
| Following changes were made:
- DIA & Anacostia Naval Station & Bolling were merged. They are now one base called Joint Base Anacostia Bolling. Staff topologically aligned the boundaries of these features and dissolved into one polygon to tag as JBAB. - Changed the name of the Naval Security Station (Nebraska Avenue & Mass ave NW) to Nebraska Avenue Complex. - Marine Barracks included three more building (SE corner I & 8th. SE corner 9th & NW corner of 7th & L (plus parking garage). Staff grabbed the owner polygons for these properties and added them to the existing marine barracks. |
