Abstract
Metro Stations (regional). The dataset contains points representing locations and attributes of Metro stations, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Platform centroids were identified from visual observation of orthophotography and extracted planimetric data. Centroids were heads-up digitized from the snapbase.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.

Planimetrics were created at a scale of 1:1,000. This means that a well defined feature falls within two feet of true position.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.

fax: 202-727-5660 hours: 8:30am - 5:30pm | For the blue line extension, platform centroids were identified from visual observation of orthophotography and a centroid for each heads-up digitized from the 2003 orthophotographs. Also, using the more accurate metro lines from the WMATA Surveyor's office, staff moved the stations to better fit with the metro lines. Attribute data was provided by the WMATA website. |
| An ADDRESS field was added and populated using data from WMATA's website. |
| A LINE field was added. The field describe the color of the line each station is located on. |
